Better German language skills for everyday life and your job!

Your wishes and personal aims are important to me. What motivates you to learn German?

Do you want to ...

  • confidently live in Germany, being able to participate successfully in discussions on a variety of topics and to interact smoothly with Germans in many different contexts?
  • get to know more about the target country, its history, economy, culture and politics?
  • discuss interesting current events?
  • learn how to write exams in German or academic texts?
  • drive your ideas and projects forward and become more successful in your job?
  • prepare a presentation faster and present it convincingly?,
  • improve a cover letter, a German CV or prepare a job interview in German?
  • write emails and letters appropriately as far as content and recipient are concerned?
  • interact skillfully and deftly on the phone and in the context of meetings and business meals?

Then let's start!

Who am I and how can I help you? I ...

  • am an experienced, state licensed secondary teacher with extensive experience
  • am an dynamic, open-minded and unterstanding German woman with a lot of exposure to multi-cultural environments who is happy to share and explain not only the German language but also the German culture to make your integration into Frankfurt proceed more smoothly and effectively
  • have a profound knowledge in L2 language acquisition theory because of my PhD thesis and extensive post-graduate studies and further education including published work in the field

Therefore, I am convinced that together we will find efficient and effective solutions in a pleasant learning atmosphere!

How will we proceed?

I am going to help you during the planning process of the training to find the right training format for you.

In the course of the teaching and evaluation phase, I will optimal account of your needs: you

  • get a detailled consultation before the training, you
  • can take part in a placement test,
  • receive regular feedback on your progress and if you wish
  • we can write tests of learning success

On top of this, teaching material, topics and methods tailored according to your need will support your German language learning.

I also offer you to teach you in the convenience of your own home or company.

Small groups, big success!

You can choose between individual lessons, small (2-3 persons) or medium-sized groups (4-8 persons).

If you like learning in a group, you will profit from the motivation and the strengths of your group members. Furthermore, training in groups can be designed in a more interesting and diversified way than individual lessons as more methods are possible. Working in groups also supports you in building up communicative skills because often interesting discussions arise.

However, also individual lessons also have advantages. The training can focus on your individual needs, skills, wishes, aims and availability.

An additional alternative is to learn in pairs or mini-groups of three, which is effective, usually more fun and better value.

I can offer you regular weekly training sessions, but also intensive teaching formats comprising several hours a week or even several days.

My emphases when teaching:

Learning a language is a holistic and self-determined process.

Therefore, the following aspects are crucial to me:

  • to promote learning of all languages competences (speaking, listening, reading, writing and mediation)
  • a functional and pragmatic bilingualism (as much German as possible and as little English as necessary!)
  • media diversity (learning languages via various sensory organs)
  • methods which are learner- and action-oriented as well as promoting interaction, as successful learning can be more likely achieved, if the learners get actively involved. Motivation increases and the teaching itself becomes more efficient
  • a transparent and reasonable structure of the lessons, which facilitates remembering the subject matter and give you the possibility to give your input into the planning process
  • time-effective prescribed exercises of the subject matter, but also exercises that allow a transfer into new situations and contexts and which therefore support individual learning
  • Learning new vocabulary in context (e.g. word families, synonyms, collocations and idomatic expressions, etc.)
  • Learning grammar in authentic contexts
  • Follow-up exercises to consolidate the learned aspects and to reflect on the last lesson

Learning languages is more than learning linguistic phenomena

It also implies getting to know customs, culture, literature, economy, history and politics of the target country.

Last but not least, it is important to me to convey joy in the learning of a foreign language! Only then will you continue learning languages in the future!
